On February 10, the Conseil des Appellations Réservées et des Termes Valorisants approved some amendments to the standard for the added-value claim Fromage fermier. In accordance with the Regulation Respecting Added-Value claims (A-20.03, r. 4), these amendments apply to the products only as of the last day of the 6th month following publication of these texts, i.e. August 31, 2025.

In concrete terms, this is the maximum time frame for implementation of the new provisions by certification holders and other stake holders in the distribution chain. During this six-month transition period, producers and other stake holders in the distribution chain who so wish will be able to adopt and implement them as and when they are ready to do so.

From August 31, 2025, the new standard will come fully into force.
