The presence of the BIO Québec logo on products ensures that these products have been certified according to the Québec Certification Reference Manual and guarantees that the products contain at least 95% ingredients of organic origin.

The use of this logo on food products guarantees that they have been produced or prepared on a Québec site under the CARTV’s authority. This is the result of the effort and creativity of Quebeckers who are striving to offer Québec consumers different products that distinguish themselves by showing greater respect for the environment and providing better living conditions for livestock, and who are aiming to eliminate substances of unnatural origin (pesticides, GMOs, food additives, etc.) from your food.

Choosing products that bear the BIO Québec logo has a two-fold purpose: You are consuming authentic organic products that meet specific standards and you are stimulating the economy by supporting regional and Québec businesses.

The CARTV, responsible for compliance with the Act

The activities of businesses that use the logo on their products are monitored by a certification body accredited by the CARTV, the only competent authority appointed in Québec by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ) to manage the use of organic designations on agri-food products.

The BIO Québec logo is a so-called compliance logo. Unlike the marketing logos which currently abound on agri-food products, the BIO Québec logo is an official trademark whose use is very strictly regulated.
